I keep thinking of 170s and the only places I can think of with two TOCs and such are places such as Leicester, which is way off.

I guess somewhere in the West Midlands but I don't know the area.

I'd say look at the last clue, there are not that many places which fit that one, NRE tells me there are 14.

Smudger105e, you win with Long Eaton.

Just for interest the cities which can be reached on direct services are (in no particular order) Sheffield, London, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cardiff, Newport and Gloucester.

I looked at a Monday, but used the no fewer than 9 just in case, and just as well.

You are on your fifth clue, and they're still pretty vague clues.

I was under the impression from the rules in the first post that clues were supposed to get more concise, and by the fifth, be pretty clear cut.

Ok. Point taken. I will expand clue 5. Only one of my platforms sees regular services. My trains are sprinters but i do see the occasional HST.

Hope that gives it away and sorry about the vagueness!

Sorry. I will therefore say i was thinking of Skegness and declare this open floor :)

I don't know if the rules allow it, but you could have another try. I hope you don't take any personal offence to my comments.

For Skegness, perhaps clues in this order might have been better:

1) I am east of Sheffield
2) I am served and manages by only one TOC
3) I am a terminus station with only one platform in regular use
4) The majority of services are provided by members of the Sprinter family
5) At certain times of year I am also served by HSTs

Had you given the clue regarding platforms earlier, it would have removed possible stations such as Lincoln.

I thought the clues were fine. And the OP's third clue was "I am a terminal station" - which rules out Lincoln !
That's true, it's also served by 3 TOCs though not regularly, bad example. But I'm not the only person who felt they were vague. The rules suggest that there should be no ambiguity by the fifth clue and there still was.

There's nothing stopping them trying again and I even encouraged it.
