And which TOC runs only non-stop services through Carnforth? (The WCML runs beside, not through, Carnforth - and in any case, if you count Virgin you also have to count ScotRail...)

Either your floor or open floor. Also, IIRC the dud clue means the round is voided (i.e. all penalties are cancelled).

Manchester Piccadilly - though I'm not sure if it would meet the description "most services are deisel"

I would say trains go to all points from there. Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham & Huddersfield, for example.

But what about the line to Sheringham? (That diverges from the Yarmouth line sooner than the divergence between the Ipswich line and the Ely line, so it makes no sense to exclude it.)
