I thought about Newcastle, but thought it might be a bit contentious because the DC is Metro only - but at Sunderland, as your (predictable) fifth clue shows, they share tracks. Fancy that - HSTs and Metro units on the same platform? hock:

Although Sunderland station is more than a little grim. At least you can see daylight to the south - not that I could the first time I went there given it was at something like 2330!

Well... technically NR services use 2 and 3 and TWM services 1 and 4, but 1/2 and 3/4 are single platforms with split numbers (like at Edinburgh Waverley or Bristol TM).
