Clue 4:
If roper nouns were allowed, no blank tiles were laid and no tiles were laid on bonus squares, the combined words of this stations name would score precisely 28 points in the standard English version of Scrabble.

Clue 4: If proper nouns were allowed, no blanks were played and bonus squares were disregarded, this station's name would score 15 points if played on a standard English Scrabble board.

Clue 5: From this station, it is possible to catch direct trains to each of England's largest cities (London, Manchester and Birmingham), each using a different TOC.

Even if there is a non-stop through Sheffield, there are services to both London and Manchester operated by EMT, so it fails clue 4 as well (assuming I have interpreted it correctly).

Think you might have got your clues mixed up there; clue 4 is the Scrabble clue (although according to my calculations it does not score 15).

EMT London
XC Brum
TPE Manchester

It didn't exclude the possibility of multiple operators

But it fails the Scrabble clue, yes.

I'm going to have to end this round, as I'm going to be away for the rest of the week as of tomorrow and won't be able to continue any longer.

The answer I was looking for was Hereford.

Floor is now open.
