Doncaster is in Scotland. Henry 111 did messed up and it was not handed back to the English when the rest of England north of Derby was. See my earlier bodged clues when I used this (the time I put 7 instead of 8 for the number of platforms.

In the same way that ATW run services between Crewe and Chester (among others)? I let you off with Doncaster; don't push your luck FSR and ATW are concentrated on Scotland and Wales respectively and are considered each area's "own" franchise.

Dang. I was hoping there were enough stations with eight letters to justify that clue (I even checked the Schematic Map; there must have been at least ten). In other words, you've gone from pushing your luck to a correct answer. That means you've also had the joint-highest number of correct answers (eight).

Well, your ideas are wrong.

The trick was that some stations, such as Needham Market, are on electrified routes but are served only by diesel trains.

Anyhow:
