4/ This station managed to survive the beeching cuts even though all around it were closed.

It did however have to be moved in the 1990s for a bypass. It is now small single island station to the south of the original which was had a huge building considering it's location and small catchment area.

It was the moving to make way for the bypass, I've driven along there and travelled on the train, the old buildings look out of place on the north side of the bypass.

Personally i'd make chesterfield the boundary, Derby is definitely Midlands, but as it isn't that station is doesn't really matter.

I think that’s a fact, the question is whether the northern peaks (with more links to Manchester and Sheffield than Derby) are considered ‘North’ (on a side note Glossop is in Derbyshire but would be considered North by nearly everyone).

Glossop I suppose does show that to be in 'The North' you don't have to be in North West England or North East England!
