Clue 3 - this station is situated in one of the "minor counties" in English county cricket.

Newark Castle

Neither Derbyshire nor Nottinghamshire are "minor counties" ! Therefore no valid reply was received to clue 3, and the quiz should not have provided to Clue 4.

Sussex isn't a minor county either ! No valid replies to Clue 4 either !

No offence, but all I know about cricket is it's the game for which TV highlights were invented <D

I looked up the most recent county season on Wiki and assumed the minor counties were those in Division 2 whilst major counties were in Division 1...

Once again, may I point out that no editing of answers is permitted!!!

Minor Counties are those counties which are in the Minor Counties Championship ! Basically all counties NOT in either Div 1 or Div 2.

Rules of this game say you must wait until a valid answer is received before proceeding to the next clue.

I don't think the limerick thing is a very good clue either ...

It all depends on how you define "valid" really, I took/take it to mean a logical guess that feasibly could make sense to someone - I.E. they're not taking the proverbial. If we had to hang around waiting for valid guesses it would take days
Aaaaanyway I can see I've slipped into the trap of describing something as well known and then nobody knowing it at all.
Situated in Staffordshire, with the eponymous racecourse nearby, and the apparently not so well known (and rather NSFW as they say) limerick that begins with "there was a young lass from Uttoxeter, who liked to have men wave their......." (apologies for offending anyone's so-called propriety). It seemed like a clever clue in the middle of a very dull night turn. Perhaps not in the cold light of day but there we go
Open floor :)

I love it when these stations end up in my own county (how else are people gonna learn about Britain's best county!) I'll take the open floor.

clue 1 this station is NOT in Staffordshire

Cannock is in Staffordshire so breaks rule 1

This station is served by 323's every 20 minutes and 170's twice a day. Class 220's and 221's pass through without stopping.
