The rules say that you should wait until someone posts a potentially correct answer (or one that isn't clearly wrong) before posting the next clue. ;)

Also, and it wasn't clear from the timeline, but I posted Slough in response to your clue 2 rather than clue 3. :)

As some of the recent answers have clearly taken in the 2 platforms clue Ill move on to the next one

A closed branch line from this station once led to a town that is still served from it, by through trains, albeit by a longer route
