Only EMUs are booked to call at this station, although diesel trains do pass through.

This station is served by a number of 'joint operator' services. That is, a number of services at this station change operator midway through their journey.
In fact, some people may argue that I am due a penalty as they will argue that such northbound services at this station are operated by the more southerly operator thoughout.

Clue 5:
This station is adjacent to a Traction Maintenance Depot of the same name. Said TMD no longer has an allocation of locos or DMUs.

Doesn't Earlswood have two TOCs passing through (FCC/FGW)?

I was hoping that 1) Earlswood has no platforms on the fast lines, but only on the Redhill line, and 2) FCC didn't run any services via Redhill. Evidently one or both of those assumptions was wrong...

FCC run some early morning services stopping at Gatwick, Redhill and East Croydon iirc
