A map of the MER and other rail routes. I find the hand drawn maps, which appear in the post-war to 1960s period magazines, of greater interest than the computer-aided mapping/drawings of layer years.

The maps in the majority of illustrations of tramway and light railway articles in magazines and books the 1950s-70s were drawn, in pen & ink, by Mr J C Gillham, who was a professional draughtsman at London Transport, but also a key member of the Light Rail Transport League set of tramway enthusiasts. There is a certain common style to them which is, indeed, lost in more modern computer creations. More here:
