The longest tramway in the world

A gallery of images taken at the attractive tram station at De Haan on the Belgian Coast tram. Its a lovely line and easily reached from Bruges and Ghent besides connecting all the famous Belgian seaside resorts.

If you follow the route, as we have done, from De Haan, it is amazing how the infrastucture changes. In places it's more an interturban, and in others a street tramway threading its way through narrowish streets. Our favourite town on the route is probably Oostende...their Subway is very nice and friendly. There is also a Pizza Hut! We were gobsmacked that a pharmacist spoke Flemish, then French to a Flemish and Waloon customers and then English to us! I can guess that Oostende, with its lovely beaches, has French-speaking tourists.
