The Germans also invented the Wankel engine and some new rocket motor in the 40's, we though did have Mr Stephenson who made the first Rocket engine, didn't we?
Walter Hancock built self-propelled buses way back in the 1830s, powered by steam, and they ran in London. The Hancock company was a forerunner of the Foden company who started by building steam road vehicles before moving on to diesel lorries and buses.
