Also like Spitfire's forward thinking come to the mini-tours they do, caters for the enthusiasts to do some extra miles while the daytrippers alight at a tourist trap, like what they did with the Celtic Growler

got no GEN on the ECS move from Carnforth at the moment , i usually use this for me "Up north" GEN

It was a passenger allocated engine, if 423 is to work then one passenger engine is enough at least lets have one 'biggie'.

Any guesses on where the ECS will go from-to and what time will it move, im guesing the 57 will bring the Mk1`s down from carnforth stopping to put the 37`s on the back, then it`ll head down to international

yes but we need something to pull the ECS out of Penzance... something may wait for us there to do that hopefully.

we only have provisional timeings at the moment, give it 2-3 days and ill tell you the acctual times they may even arrive today if im lucky, tour times are sent out 10-7 days before the tour

Thought you could propel into and out of Penzance, the stock for the up midnight always used to propel in, only time i have seen the 08 on the blocks was when it used to convey motorail vans.

Yes propelling is the norm at Penzance - I've done the Brum-Penz the past 2 years (D1015 in 2007 and 55022 last year) and on neither occasion has there been a shunt loco involved.

The locos propelled the stock into the carriage sidings, ran round, and propelled the stock back into the station ready for the return - all in the booked 90mins the tour had in Blackpool North.

No need for a third loco on the back if it can be avoided, although each tour is different.

If there's no run round loop then they do a shunt release. Another loco drops onto the front of the stock and it departs on the next service (Or takes ECS to Depot) Then the loco and the back of the stock is therefore released. It will either run into a siding and wait to drop onto a service. 50s at Padd used to go into a siding (Name escapes me now) and wait to drop onto another service. Where there is a run round loop, they run round the stock or don't need shunt releasing. Places like Glasgow Q St the rear loco used to bank up the incline into the tunnel but this was stopped due to people complaining about the juddering.
Places like PNZ, the Night Riv is shunted into Long Rock which is close

Yes we have a Kitchen onboard and the usual Breakfast tray/ evening meal fare will be available as usual.

To be honest, I would say we'll be a little earlier than that, the unvalidated set had 0620ish IIRC, don't have them to hand, but may seriously alter from these as they're not finnished yet.

Heard rumouring of a possession being taken at Blackwell after 2200 so the return may have to be earlier or via Kidderminster. An earlier outbound may tie in with the former option?

Possesion goes up at around 2230 Abbotswood-Barnt Green I believe after the last Cardiff-New St, in the set recieved we go up prior to that taking place. But as said they're unvalidated, so it may differ, hopefully more info on Monday.

well on the Fellsman chopper the timings changed so that i could get the bus to new street (and save £23 in taxi fares) so im hoping this happens again or the tour leaves after 0631 (when the 1st train of the day arrives)

Due to planning constraints, a path stopping at Barnt Green is not available, also we have a reduced break in Cornwall due to the way the job has been planned by NR, despite our bid being placed in December for this trip, apologies to all that are affected by this. A look at the times for both 37 tours to Penzance that day reveals that you should meet in Plymouth, Spifire 11:00 - 11:10, Pathfinder 11:09-11:30, that should be interesting...
