Hello All,

Does anyone know which two WCRC Growlers are booked to haul Spitfire Railtour's "The Jorvic Growler" tomorrow from Taunton to York and back.
Thank you in advance for any infomation.

Best regards SteamHawk216.

Is there a law that says that all Spitfire tours involving 37s have to have the word 'Growler' in the name?

I'm off on the Growling Geordie on 28th November, which is the mini-tour part of another Spitfire tour to York. York to Newcastle and back via some rail atlas red bits for only £20 is a bit of a bargain IMHO. It says on the Spitfire site that it will be DRS/WCRC class 37s, but does anyone know if this means it could be a pair of either DRS or WCRC syphons, or one of each?

I'm a bit concerned that the picture posted upthread by 43034 shows the duff marshalled between the 37s and the stock. It's bad enough having to have duffs dragged around the place as it is, but at least shove them out of sight (and earshot) at the back.

37516 failed earlier on the tour, so 47851 ran round to be marshalled to the front of the stock and power the tour in tandem with 37676.

I believe the Harrogate Loop mini-tour was cancelled due to the massive delays encountered upon the failure of 37516, as well as 47851 needing more fuel.. 37516 was dumped at York and due to the need for a loco to be on the back (Mk1 stock with passengers being conveyed can't be on the back without some sort of barrier), 37676 was left on the back and 47851 powered the return leg. It's the wise choice as a single 37 would probably have lost a lot of time.

Makes sense I guess.

I thought you would've been more concerned about the 4 air-cons in the formation!

Incidentally, as far as I'm aware the train is booked one of each.

Hello All,

A collection of twelve photographs taken when I joined Spitfire Railtour's "The Jorvic Growler" to York last Saturday have been added to my fotopic website. While there, in the historic city, I made my first visit to the superb National Railway Museum.
So you are welcome to click on the link below and hopefully enjoy my images.:D
