True, ive 'met' a few characters on the one of the later Glasgow - Edinburgh via shotts services, even got offered a free can of tenants. nice :roll:

Between Glasgow and Shotts it can be interesting, mostly involving folks getting on/off at Cleland or Carfin.

And not just late ones. I used to get the 2:15 departure from Glasgow on a Saturday afternoon and experienced:

4 people being arrested for fighting
1 worthy smash the little box remove the hammer and use it to break a seat
Harangued all the way to Cleland or Carfin - forget which - by a drunken Rangers supporter who was determined to find out which team I supported.
Delayed at Holytown for the police and ambulance to "assist" a comatose and unresponsive drunk (yes it was booze he stunk up the whole carriage) who fell asleep beside a somewhat distressed lassie - preventing her leaving at the station.

In my experience, the direct service - the admittedly rare and little-used direct service - is worse It's as though you have to be a 16-year-old parent to use that thing by Law!

Regrettably my home towns resident "celebrity" who appeared on JK saying shes been pregnant for 13 months is seen on the Cambrian she goes by the knickname Annie Fanny Burger Chops - beware you wont miss her.

You also see the bloke dubbed "Hospital Hopper" by the Daily Mail, the old hippy women is 1960's actress Julie Christie. Magistrate Court days in Welshpool are great for bringing the unwaged out to play.

Welshpool is often referred to as Welsh Pole now for obvious reasons.
Borth is known as Aberystwyths DHSS Suburb. Any departure from Aber is great for the "Borth fare dodger".
The 1930 Aberystwyth to Birmingham New St on Saturdays has developed a reputation for inebriated customers who have been in Aber all day long.

Though this is nothing to what my other half experienced coming back form Bangor in the summer. She joined a train that connected with the Ferry at Holyhead and the Travelers from Wrexham had been over to Ireland. Children ran riot and tried to steal things from other passengers whilst their "mothers" if that's the right word just sat there and let them do it.

Bedhampton (nearest station to Leigh Park) services heading to Havant, Portsmouth.

Ifield, Crawley, Redhill area. Bexhill to Ore and finally most London to Bognor (Butlins) trains on Fridays in the summer hols!

Havent been to Butlins since i was a teenager, went once with family to see an act my cousin was desperate to see,

Anything between Preston and Manchester? Preston station feels unsafe at times with the people who'd have a case to be on JK, and the people I've seen get on board (namely at Chorley, Horwich, Lostock and Bolton) don't cause much trouble as such but constitute for passengers on the JK express!

I would imagine there will be plenty of BTP on those trains down in that neck of the woods

In previous years FGW have put on special HST services for Plymouth Exeter derby games. Not heard of any this time yet.

Combine these two responses into South Wales derbies - or pretty much any match of major significance to either Cardiff or Swansea. I stumbled upon a match between the latter and Leeds in February last year which was... interesting.

To be honest there is very little trouble down there during the football, even on the local derbys!

The Southampton Central - Portsmouth Harbour all stations tends to fill up with chavs from Fareham onwards heading into Portsmouth. I've also noticed quite a few JK contenders get on the Southampton Central - Brighton services at stations east of Havant.

In Devon, I've noticed quite a few chavs and individuals who may be making an appearance on JK on the Exmouth - Paignton services. Funnily enough, I got off at Dawlish and noticed a drunk couple wearing shell suits having an argument at full volume under the bridge adjacent to the station!

Rhyl to Prestatyn or Wrexham to Chester.

You get some real oddballs (that's the only way I can describe them, really) on that route, from what I can see. No offence is meant to anyone locally who isn't an oddball!

Having done the line to Digby in the light for the first time the other week, with that I can agree. I wasn't actually aware that this bit existed, until I saw it the other day. The couple sat next to me weren't the most intelligent of folks.

Also mis-timed my trip and ended up coming back when the schools in Digby were finishing for the day, loads of 11 year olds on the train back. Asked a couple to get back from the platform edge, as they were doing stupid balance games right on the edge just a minute before the pacer was due :roll:

Yes, I find the Exeter-Exmouth service is heavily used by Jeremy Kyle candidates. Exmouth seems to contain a high number of such people. I also use the limited FGW services between Exeter and Bristol and there seems to be a high volume of JK candidates between Bristol and Weston Super Mud.

Actually Cardiff v Swansea games shoudn't have much impact on the train service as pretty much all games in recent memory have been bubble games (where fans have had to travel on organised coaches in a police convoy!). But yeah, in terms of other big games for both clubs, then it can get a bit mad. C

Also add to that all services in and out of Cardiff when there is Rugby on at the stadium!
