I am pleased I was told yesterday that I have a start date for Bedford in May, a little too short notice in all honesty.
I applied in april last year and had my DMI in August 15 i havent had my medical yet. I live an hour away in Corby.

That's great news, congratulations ??????

Trudy informed there are around 50 guys waiting for Bedford and two courses are confirmed for this year - July and November although there could be others.

That is also great news, cheers Rob ??????

Cheers, I've been waiting since August, I didn't have a notice period as I'm internal but I did say 4 weeks at the interview so a replacement could be found

Great news.

Great for you, obviously, and great for us, as things seem to be moving.

Stands to reason that internals would be selected first as they are already in situe and dont need to do the rules part of the training, but encouraging that things are happening.

Nice one sir !

Everyone would have to do rules again

Current driver told me that last lot of internal depot drivers, were starting their course couple of weeks after the start as didnt need to do rules part again.

Unless its duff info

Depot Drivers are not MAINLINE drivers, they drive in depots, so although they are Train Drivers, the rules course that they would have sat would have been a condensed version, I know this because I was offered a position as a Depot driver and I turned it down, I asked about the transition from Depot to Mainline and was told that various parts of the rules would have to be redone and parts that had not been covered would need to be done with a final rules exam required to be done at the end.

Is there anybody on here awaiting Hitchin?

At DMI I informed both interviewers that, altho I applied originally for Bedford, I live equidistant from Bedford or Hitchin and would be prepared to work out of either.

Wonder if that's on my details ??

Ring them and check that's the best way but in my experience when I have spoken with them before because I'm between Peterborough and Bedford and both are equally apart I was told that I would only be considered for the location I applied too

I'm waiting for Hitchin, although I have all the other depots down as scond choice. I currently live about 55ins from all the depots except Hitchin where it's only 30mins. That being said I'm a single male with no kids or commitments so I'm gonna relocate anyway.
