Same here pal I'm down for both. They didn't mention anything for Blackfriars. Just got to wait. Will soon be a year since my medical. Just hope they call us soon.

Even if they give dates out like crossrail do it would make everyone a lot less stressed.

They can't give dates because they don't know lol.
Until they can be sure they have courses available with the Trainers then unfortunately you're going to have to wait.
They will get back to you once they know

Not sure what's happening at bridges as, there are no drivers currently based there. It's all gone a tad quiet.

Hi all, I had the email about the bridges yesterday.
When i spoke to Trudy after passing my medical a week ago she said something similar but she re assured me that there will be course dates. Its just a case that she does'nt know when course dates are as powers that be havn't informed HR yet.

How many people are in the pool for Bridges?

Anyone heard any different?

well they passed out some peterborough drivers this week as a former work colleague was one of them. So that should be a positive indicator things are moving along.

Things will gradually get there. Hopefully we will hear something within a month or two.

Had a trainee driver in the cab with me last week who is on a course for Three Bridges. He said their course is being run at Gatwick in the Hilton! He didn't know what was happening though as there are no drivers at Three Bridges yet, let alone Thameslink drivers!

I'm amazed we're still running more courses tbh. A couple of Brighton trainers I spoke to last week said there is now a 5 month backlog of trainees down there who have passed rules but are waiting to start their manual handling hours. It's crazy!

Problem is they are telling everyone they are taking on more drivers but they are not actually doing anything with them. They are just left hanging doing front end turns

but they are not actually doing anything with them.

The system is not linked up from start to finish. It is all well and good having applications and assessments but when you have no courses booked then you get to a situation like this where you start creating a "talent pool"

The next step is not very flexible and can only be done in a finite amount of time. Everything is limited by how many training schools and trainers you have and the number of courses you can run per year. There are more in the talent pool than able to pass into this step. Even when the training school is running at max capacity its not able to cope with the supply of Trainees. Then of course, you still need to deal with traction courses too.

When everyone is getting through the school you hit another wall where the supply of instructors cannot, and will never, cope with the volume of Trainees coming through. Manual handling takes time and it is 1 to 1. If you get a class of 12 passed out you need 12 Instructors. You may have 3/4 Instructors free but the rest of the Trainees get dumped on the front end turns or sit about doing nothing. At this point you start generating a backlog of Trainees at the depots so the whole process then backs up further.

At last count we have about 8 Trainees sitting about and around 20 coming through the school.

Whilst I understand the frustration of those on here I can assure you that everything is being done to get people through. It's taking 18 months to get a single Trainee through the system. It is not a fast process and unfortunately you guys and gals are on the first rung of a very long ladder.

Our assesment only lasts 2 years, and I've nearly had that waiting, dreading this not working out and the course being out of date to get another job else where.
