So having now spoken to a friend currently in training he has confirmed there should be a Bedford course in January. The reason for the lack of movement in the pool is there have been a few internal applicant only courses.

He has said that they are slowly getting people on courses but hasnt been told of any other courses... this doenst mean there arent a few planned early 2016.

Thanks for the update, would that be a course for externals?

It makes sense that previously there was a lack of people from this forum for the Bedford courses... Now it adds up that they were internal courses.

So, Bedford... internals first, then those who submitted their applications on the date the vacancy was advertised (and were given a medical), and then those who submitted toward the end of the campaign (and weren't given a medical).
I feel a longer wait coming on than the initial "Courses in October and into New Year" that Claire originally said.
Oh well, just stick with it and hope I don't die of old age in the meantime.

I would like to say the Jan course is for external applicants but he coulndt say and i plan on calling again (as per Lisa's comments) for an update.

My wife made mention that if i was told to call back in a few weeks if i hadnt heard anything maybe this was a subtle hint??

Either way "some news" is good news... i will update you when i get further info.

Yes hopefully its for externals, if theres something for January they will need to start contacting people asap as they usually give 5-6 weeks notice.

Learning 319s which is a nice surprise
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Two attempts to pass each test or training discontinued which is understandable hard work will shortly begin.. So all those waiting I would say enjoy while you can

When you say training discontinued, do you mean you're kicked off the course?!

Just to say loving the new role so far and a great group of trainees eight of us all different backgrounds

Training for three bridges to be in bedford however which surprised us as a long commute

The welcomer told us no one fails a course and the days are not long to make it as easy as possible... They will get you through basically

There is a course for bridges in jan

Having been on the course for 9 weeks I can tell it's no walk in the park and you have to put in a lot of effort to pass the weekly exams. If you get any question wrong they are marked for review and you must get those questions right or face dismissal. Don't come into this job thinking it will be easy, or you may become a statistic for the wrong reasons. Put in the effort and you will pass, however our trainer has recently failed 4 students on the TL side for slacking off.

8 months into my training and im out with my DI now
the group a month behind us had 9 in it and there was only 1 DI available so names went in a hat for him which leaves the other 8 just waiting and front ending until other DI's are available which could be anything from a month to a few months,
i have been told more assessors are starting in january so that will make 5 but of course you have to do a minimum of 250 hours driving and atleast 50 must be night driving but it seems the norm is about 300 to 350 hours and this only counted when your bum is in the seat so you could be working 35 - 38 hours a week but only getting 25 hours driving.
i know this might seem a negative post but it isn't im just pointing out that the courses will most probably not start until march so they can get the backlog under control and trainee's can be put with DI's straight away,
but good luck too all it's the best job you will ever have.
