The GTR talent pool.

Hmm... I'm also awaiting a medical but didn't receive an email. Not sure what to make of that!

However, I did speak to them a week or two back and was told that due to the size of the pool, my start date would more than likely be 2016. But, a bulk email with revised contact details was going to be sent out the next week. I would rather just know, as others have said it's the lack of ability to plan that's driving me mad; we haven't had a proper holiday in a few years now and were going to soon, but obviously can't book anything now!

It basically said i remain in the talent pool, they don't have a specific start date for me but to be aware they do have a large number of courses planned and once they have a vacancy for me they will be in touch to progress me....

Not sure what to make of it seeing as I appear to be the only once who has received this....?

Haven't received any updates since the talent pool letter in July.

For those that know they are in the talent pool whether it's been confirmed or not (you've passed all stages but not had an email) here is the email sent from GTR to myself a short while ago reiterating that they are still trying to get coure start dates for eveyone.
Dear Candidate,

This email is to advise you that you remain in our talent pool for the role of Trainee Train Driver as you have passed the entire assessment process including interview. The current situation is that we have been working solidly throughout 2015 to build up a talent pool of applicants ready to start on Trainee Train Driver courses. At this point in time we do not have a specific start date for you however please be aware that we have a large number of courses planned and once we have a definite vacancy we will contact you to progress you. Thank you for your patience and continued interest in this role.

In addition please be aware that Claire Kadesh who is currently the main contact for TL and GN driver recruitment is due to leave GTR on 7 October, therefore please note that the new contact details will be as follows:

Just noticed that the new contact has a "Southern" email address and not a GTR one. I wonder if it matters?

Bucko I wouldn't panic about it. No news is good news and you might find you'll get a call rather than an email

I have the email. But not sure I want it now! I applied in Feb. I know of 3 other people that also did. They haven't got the email. I know of 1 person who applied to the later advert. They have an email. On this occasion I'm inclined to believe. ..No news is good news!

I'm concerned cos I've never been officially told I'm in the Talent Pool and now I havent rec'd the email.

The letter everyone rec'd about being in the TP was sent out the week of my medical so maybe thats why I never had that.

I've had correspondence and dealings with GTR since passing my medical but cant help a slight worry.

Don't think there is any need to worry Bucko. I have not had the email either. I'm sure its all fine. it will all be Ok. No news is for sure good news. They have not said they will not be taking us on! So all is well. I'm adiment it will be soon! Most have had medicals and they are making Progress. Just a matter of waiting for that all important call

I emailed them they then said i was in a talent pool but ive never recieved an email from GTR.

I am waiting for kings cross so think it wont be til next year now still hoping.

I'm sure that won't be the case. Someone on here wrote that they told them it won't be till next year, however they had not had their medical. I, like you went back to hr office and they said the same thing, however they emailed me telling my medical is clear. Claire never stated it would not be this year. You never know. As kings cross and blackfriars have not had anyone in yet, well non from when we had our medicals.

So here's to hoping pal.

It may be worth having a look at who got the same email on the same date. I doubt its either erratic or unplanned. I would suggest they have sent the email out in course batches having a full pool and grouped us in courses. They sent the email out in groups as those groups will be getting the same info at the same time on joining instructions/ timings etc in the forthcoming weeks/months.
