I've just had a call with Claire and..... it was a no I'm holding out for Bedford i've worked for for Tesco, 13 years and now at 29 just cant be dealing with long commutes to work and 13 hour days on top. She was pretty understanding and said she'd be in contact shortly.

Reading into what Claire said do you think she mentioned get back to you shortly regarding Bedford?

yeah i would assume that. In my interview i said that i was willing to travel. But that's just way to far from Bedford my current commute is 50 miles each way and i just havent got the energy to commute anymore. She was totally fine about it and sounded upbeat whilst the conversation took place so its gotta be close now!

Why is it not feasible they may start a course 4th week in Oct, thus notifying people 4th week of Sept?

Well I would guess they will contact us first to confirm a start date, then send out relevant paperwork and contract. Then we need to read and sign and send relevant paper work back we must need 6 weeks notice at least giving us enough time to hand notices into work

I think they took everyone's required notice period after the interviews they definately took mine so for me mines only 4 weeks, assume people with 6 weeks will get notified first

Did you apply to Bedford but was offered Peterborough? I applied to Bedford and during my interview I said Peterborough would be ideal but was not available at the time as Peterborough is only 25 miles from where I live and Bedford is 33 miles just wondering if they offered you Peterborough as an option

I too remain hopeful that a course in Bedford will come about this Oct but from what i understand from friends currently working there they are understaffed, as im sure most other depots are through retirement etc. so im sure all Bedford applicants will be required

Are brighton short it is my nearest depot along with three bridges so assuming likely I will be placed at one of them. Blackfriars possibly kings cross thinking less likely but who knows

Sorry only get snippets of info about Bedford as I know two that are currently in train. One nearly finished and one just started in May. If I hear any info about Brighton or other stations ill post it on here.

It seems GTR's strategy so far is too focus on the Great Northern side, and it appears next they will focus on Thameslink i.e Bedford

But i understand Thameslink are getting a new type of train approx from April 2016, what effect will this have for the guys waiting for Bedford?

p.s still waiting for a start date, hoping its soon but noticed 3-4 people get phone calls on a friday...cant wait for the day when they ring people solid for the whole week to allocate dates
