Did anyone watch 'The Ground Zero Mosque' on Channel Four last night?

I thought it was a very compelling programme. It was totally different to what I expected and changed my perspective on the issue completely.

I've included a poll.

Isn't it something like a mile away from the WTC (I really dislike the phrase 'Ground Zero' as well as "NineEleven" - September 11th I'm fine with but "9/11" just strikes me as someone trying to reduce the events of that day to a snappy three syallable catchphrase... It sounds like a Conveniance Store plus the date is the wrong way round for non Americans!)

Mind you the media also latched on to 7/7!

There's confusion on that one. Some people say it is, some say it's a community centre.

and isn't at Ground Zero.

It's about four blocks away.

Didn't see the show, but unless I am very much mistaken there is already a mosque nearer to Ground Zero and it's happily existed there for ages. The only reason this one was ever deemed newsworthy is because it was proposed during an election year.

Yeah, that's what Pat Condell said in one of his videos. Of course, saying that 9/11 is a 'scene of conquest' suggests that muslims have taken over the USA which is complete bollocks, despite what the barmier Republicans say. Speaking of the mosque as being part of the 'stealth Jihad' sounds almost identical to the Zionist conspiracy theory.

I used to enjoy listening to his criticisms of Christianity until he jumped into bed with the 'anti-Jihad' movement, which is made up of neocons and psuedo-academics like Robert Spencer.

I find it quite ironic yet also sickening that most of the opposition to whatever is it are a far greater danger to freedom than American Muslims.

Ever noticed how the Republicans want less government interference but want to prevent abortion? Preach Christian values but leave their poor to die for want of medication?

Im indifferent about this really. As before the attacks their was a Muslim community center? near by to the site of the twin towers.

Also all religions do need to be repersentive in some way or the other.

The Republican party in America just want to spread panic whilst cutting tax for the rich and letting the less fortante go without medical care.

It was the Jews and Blacks before the Muslims. Eventually someone will come along and replace them as scapegoats.
