The Great Western (D1015)
Bank Holiday Monday 26th May (In association with Mark Elderkin)

IWe start the day from one of Brunel’s masterpieces London Paddington and head along the Great Western Railway through Reading, Swindon, Bristol Parkway through the outskirts of Bristol, and then on to the “Heart of Wessex” line through Bath Spa and Westbury, Yeovil, Dorchester and finally Weymouth.

Weymouth is a classic seaside resort with a fine Georgian seafront forming the backdrop to an idyllic arc of golden sands and leisure harbour, which nestles perfectly alongside the rugged Isle of Portland.

There may even be time to sample an open top bus ride to Portland Bill with its Lighthouse and Visitor centre. Portland is famously known for its stone and panoramic views of the Dorset Jurassic Coast. Alternatively sample an ale from the Dorset Brewery Co Ltd at Brewers Quay. Weymouth has many pubs restaurants and amusements all within walking distance of the railway station.

Afterwards we head back to the railway station for our return trip to Bristol Parkway and our return stations to arrive at our final destination London Paddington with D1015. The last enthusiast charter to Weymouth with a ‘thousand’ was on 19/02/1977 with D1013 on a service from London Waterloo.

Aaand I wouldn't exactly call 2(?) railtours "on a roll". I've already done 4 this year with another one on the 10th May.
Well, yeah, I work on them and don't pay a penny, but that doesn't count!
The point is, you're not "on a roll" until you've done at least 10 in a year....and I'm lined up for at least 18 more this year 8)
