Waiting for the Train to London Yesterday, I took the chance to ask a member of staff about the future of Platform 1 at Truro once the Falmouth - Newquay services start.
I was told that he didn't know and that he didn't think anyone had thought of it.
Has anyone heard anything?
Does anyone care?

As far as I remember, Falmouth - Newquay will be 1 train per hour, but Falmouth - Truro will still be 2tph, so platform 1 will still have 1tph.

Platform 1 at Truro is the west-facing bay platform normally used for the half-hourly services to/from Falmouth Docks (hourly on Sundays). So, what, if anything, is changing at Truro, and when?

Basically 1tph is going to be extended from Falmouth - Truro to become a hourly Falmouth - Newquay service which has all the hallmarks of importing delays onto the branch line due to delays on the mainline

Thanks for the explanation. So, does that mean that the other train shuttling between Falmouth Docks and Truro each hour (i.e. the one which is not being extended to form the onward service to Newquay) will most likely still be using platform 1 at Truro?

Yes, most likely. With recent resignalling, the two through platforms are both also able to directly accept and dispatch a loaded branch passenger train. Previously, some shunt movements were required.
