The Fastest Train board at East Croydon

Evening all,

I was at East Croydon station earlier today and i saw that the "Fastest train to" boards still feature places such as Birmingham New St, Leamington Spa, Liverpool Lime St and Manchester Piccadilly. The VT stopping boards are even still on the platforms.

I was wondering why these are still all there as Cross Country trains there stopped going from Croydon in 2008. Im guessing it would be too costly to remove the places from the boards but why would the stopping boards remain ?

The Airedale line in west yorkshire has loco stop boards remaining (presumably as arriva ran leeds to carlisle with 37 and mk2's back in 2002) despite that nowadays the line being almost solely served by 333's, 158's and pacers.

The VT stopping boards feature at lots of stations across the country and should not be removed as they are always there then and potentially Voyagers can call at this station and have correct stopping boards.

Solihull, recieves no XC trains anymore but does still retain its VT stopping boards.

IMO, there is no need to remove them.

I think it had Coulsdon Town twice on the boards (once in the right place, once where Smitham was). Weird.

They are handy when you are pulling into the down platform with a DVT & 67 & coaches, I can tell you.

I agree, there is little or no point in removing them, it'd just be change for change's sake.
