It’s not often you come across a charter train being run by a group of volunteers.

Saturday 26 October 2024 sees a charter train running non stop from Fareham to London Waterloo.

It seems to be aimed at Gosport residents. Gosport being one of the larger towns without a rail service.

Tickets are being sold at £25 per person.

I didn’t write that article and am not going to get into any debate on the subject. I would however say that Fareham was on the original line to/from Gosport. The line to Portsmouth was an afterthought, hence the tight curve after leaving Fareham towards Portsmouth.

Not sure it's that rare - Saltburn Railtours are a volunteer organisation and have been running an annual railtour every year for the last two decades.
