I volunteer at the East Kent Railway, and we have had vandalism many times before, just not at this level. Often, pieces of rolling stock are graffitied, and windows broken. The problems havn't been so bad lately, but it happens everywhere. I just cant understand why people would do these things. :(

one of our TPOs was graffitied whilst in storage at Rushcliffe sidings on our line in Leicestershire, it is well hidden overnight as there are british gypsum and DHL lorries in the way so no-one can see

Could this indicate that someone was purposely out to vandalise that piece of stock???
I assume vandals dont understand the railways, and just go for whatever they see first... :-?

Thats normally the case.. At the Barry Island Railway we've had people smash windows whilst we were on site which was stupid and we had 3 of our Gat Ex stock graffitied and probally one of the worst we had a wooden shunters truck at the back of a siding which was owned by a museum awaiting restoration which got burnt back to the frame work

I just can't believe this stuff happens. I know, from first hand experience that most kids think that trains are boring... fair enough... but what joy do they get from ruining someones hard work, and a piece of history?

I bet you its a thrill of risking getting caught and possibly even the thrill of a chase going off slightly i was off into Cardiff yesterday and passing some house kids were chuckin stones at the train not big stones really but they just try and act hard and look for a chase

Idiots... If only they wouldn't do these things... It's ridiculous how bad things are these days. 100 years ago, everyone wanted to be a train driver!
