Once you have platform screen doors, it locks in the design of the carriages. All future designs have to be compatible.
Indeed, unless you're prepared to shut the line for as long as it takes to replace the doors - and cut over to the new fleet in one go.

I guess even door spacings may make it slightly easier to go to some future configuration such as shorter articulated body modules.

I think PSD also have a life expectancy though so I would think they are replaced with the train if it lasts around 40 years

Yes they will have to be refurbished or replaced from time to time like any other system. But if the door spacing stays the same, the PSDs can be done gradually rather than in a "big bang" rebuilding or replacement at the same time as the trains.

Even though it works I would assume the jubilee line layout is a bit dated for underground trains being that later models have shorter carriages so I wouldn’t see them sticking with the same ped layout for a new train especially if it’s a bit more similar to 24ts layout.

Indeed, that's a problem the Jubilee is going to have to face, but not for a decade or two.

Interesting point the move from pocket sliding to plug doors is largely about efficiency, noise reduction, and energy performance. Plug doors provide better sealing, improving thermal and acoustic insulation, which helps with modern performance and safety standards. While pocket doors were great for quick entry on metro-style routes, today’s TOCs often prioritise overall efficiency and reliability. You can find more technical discussion on similar train design topics in related threads on the RailUK Forums.

Hi, welcome to the forum It's been mentioned here that platform screen doors can also play a part in how a train can be designed. It might also be worth making a separate thread about whether the technology of pocket doors can be improved on the factors you mentioned, or on what routes can psds be best suited for.
