The Cardiff '57...

Hi All,

I noticed last week that the long-dumped 57 at Cardiff Central has finally disappeared, can anybody shed any light on it's fate? I've not been near Gloucester in a short while, has it's resident 47 gone also?! Any thoughts or info would be gratefully appreciated,

Both locos have gone to the West Coast Railway Company Depot at Carnforth for use by West Coast.

That's good news then, hopefully?! I'd read that Harry Needle wanted the 47 for it's engine, would've been a shame to see such a straight-looking pair of locos chopped. Let's hope that WCR have some constructive plans, they'll want some tinkering with after all that time sat outside no doubt :-/ I'll look up that video, cheers both

yes lots of rumours over their states but they moved out ok,47237 took a little time to move out but all departed gloucester at 1740 hrs and went to carnforth same night,cheers clarkster

I agree! In fact I'm suprised it stayed there so long considering that's a pretty busy little loco spur, usually something else (a much inferior Yankee 66 generally!) sat on top of it when I've been passing through. Would've thought NR might have got a bit shirty before now. The Gloucester 47 was nicely out of the way though I guess, suprised (and glad) it didn't get a bodyside repaint courtesy of the local yobs though. Is the Post Office van (GUV?) going anywhere?
