The BBC buses.

Firstly, to admin, please move this thread if it's in the wrong place.

Do the BBC regions and radio stations still run their buses? I remember back in 2005, BBC Cumbria, BBC Newcastle, and BBC Tees, which were the BBC radio stations for the North East and Cumbria area of the BBC, had their own buses, when I was on holiday. Each morning, on the regional news bulletins on Breakfast, they would say where the bus would be on each day.

So, do the BBC still have them, and if so, what's on them?

Occassionaly may run summer holiday specials with hired bus local radio buses now more focused on community/educational facilities quote from BBC press office

"Local BBC Multi-media Open Centres promoting learning, creative and IT skills are now operating in Lancashire, Sheffield, Merseyside, Stoke, Hull and Gloucester plus touring buses offering similar facilities with added broadcasting equipment in 10 local radio areas.

Similar facilities have been set up with a bus in Northern Ireland and two community studios and a bus in Wales."

Not too long ago there was a BBC bus on the carpark next me inviting Belper residents, particularly the older ones, to share their memories.

Our local BBC bus used to be parked up at the RoadCar depot in Lincoln - was a multi-coloured MAN 14.220 with modified East Lancashire bodywork. Haven't seen it for a few years now - so not sure whether Radio Lincolnshire still have a bus.

I know BBC London 94.9 radio had a bus used for outside broadcasts, although I haven't heard them use it since the Olympics.

I saw one in Bath just recently, East Lancs bodied midi of some sort. Silver with red BBC branding and what looked like plenty of broadcasting kit on board. Don't remember the area branding.

They don't seem to anymore. They tend to use the people carrier type vehicle these days 'Pearl' for the Facebookaneers . Or they have a fold out trailer for shows, fetes or displays.
