I'm having a right run of foul luck at the minute with my fots; Stacey will tell you I was particularly unimpressed with the sun the other week at the GWR and things have not improved since! So much for this barbeque summer<(

Anyway, today I thought I'd have a run out and see what the weather did.

Cathiron first - and the first clue it wasn't to be my day - 66414 headed north on the slow just as Pendo blasted down the fast. Bowled! Then came the rain, just in time for 47245/57601.... http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p59797450.html

Noting the sun out towards the west I attempted to get across in time for a shot of the 90 on the LHCS but failed by 5 minutes due to some farmer taking his tractor out for a slow ride out in the country<(

So, in disgust I headed for Wichnor to get newly reliveried 37670 being dragged to Crewe. This time I needed the sun to be in - not very often I say that! http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p59797451.html

After tea, I noticed 66412 was likely to do 4S45 after working 4M71 earlier. Looking at the weather maps, to the southeast of me were thunderstorms so I headed north to Rugeley. Actually managed a sunny shot of 66424 http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p59797452.html along with 390024 http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p59797453.html but you just knew 66412 would pass in dull light - http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p59797454.html

Right, any chance of some sunshine first thing tomorrow?

I think you are being a bit harsh on yourself! I like the one of 47245/57601, the rain gives the pic a bit more character & atmosphere IMO.

Lol! I'm being harsh on the weather - about time we had this good weather we were promised!!!!

But yes, the rain does add something to a shot - it's just given the choice between sunshine shots and rainy shots I'd take the sunny one any time!:)

I had a day like that a few weeks ago - went to see the Alton oil on a single track but it didn't show; went to Hook, nothing doing; went to Theale, nothing doing; went to Lower Basildon for the Colas 47's, no show - saw a 66 as I was halfway across the field on my way back to the car!

However, yesterday I went to Lower Basildon for 'Oliver Cromwell' and also saw 6 freights and the Network Rail NMT train within an hour!

Is it only me that thinks the DB livery is really really nasty? Thats shot of the 37 is a great picture but that livery, well I just can't get excited by it one bit!
