Forget lipsticks, purses and glittery key rings. Laptops could soon be the latest must-have in every girl’s handbag.

Elonex, a small British computer maker, will start selling its £99 ‘netbooks’ - part of a new generation of small and cheap laptops from February.

The move is in an attempt to win over a new generation of female shoppers by making laptop computers that are small enough to fit into a handbag.

The screens are just seven inches wide, the keyboard is slightly smaller than a normal laptop keyboard.

Well got myself an Asus a week or so again, very pleased with it. 1kg in weight and 8 hour battery life, with wifi/bluetooth, very mobile.

TBH, I like the idea and the price, would be extremely handy for the 21st Century bashers on the move. But I ain't buying some feminine piece of junk. Would rather keep my notebooks, pens, moves books and everything going before that!

Got mine for £250, but its really bought for when I travel around a lot, at 1kg you can't go wrong.

£99 I can understand, that's a good price for what is essentially a beefed-up PDA, but over £300 (or even £250), well I'd rather carry a naturally-sized laptop around. No point making yourself use a super-PDA at laptop prices and not allowing yourself the much beefier performance of the laptop!

Perhaps they could be designed to look manly, like rather than being black, silver, grey or white perhaps they could have designs on them like sporting feels to them where you could hve your team colours on them or a logo of your choice and when you turn it on it could make a reving sound or a train sound even.

So now that 'note books' are all the go, what happend to laptops? Are they even the same or have they gone out of fashion?

Well here is a concept; If you can get different styles of mobile phone covers to match peoples tastes then surely there could be a market for laptop/note book covers too?

This would have to be something the manufacturers would have to come up with as you would need to attach on on there somehow.
