Thameslink Trainee Vacancies

Handing notices in and a June start.

I'm not advising you what to do. But there are 72 trainee drivers planned to be taken on this year (nine courses of 8 trainees). If you can't do the June one, there will be another one.

That's just the Great Northern side by the way. There's a lot for the Thameslink side as well.


What I'm trying to get across is that unlike sometimes when it's a 'one off recruitment', for the next couple of years GTR are having a big recruitment like a production line, so there's several courses starting throughout the year.
Also, because there's several courses, you might not get a start date until later in the year anyway. You could end up resigning from your job and not starting your new one until , say, November for example.
You'll have told GTR how much notice you have to give in your application anyway.

Hitchin was advertised in earlier recruitment drives but in the February application window it seems to have been a speculative application ie wherever a depot has a vacancy or talent pool.
Chamber let me know how you get on with wednesday maybe we could meet up for a pint in The Parcel Yard or back in Hitchin after the medicals of course

I did finally get through to the GTR recruitment team who said they are working with driver managers for dates and everyone through would receive their date by the end of April

I have been waiting approx 5 weeks for a date for dm interview. My girlfriend who works for the company was talking about some sort of change over. So that might be a reason for the delay

Congratulations!! I passed yesterday too, have been given a date for my medical and was also advised about start dates in June. Did they give you any idea of which depot you'll be based at?

Wish I could, but wont have my specs back for 1-2 weeks, booked 7th may with GTR today(will see if I can rebook if I get them earlier). They've confirmed that 26th june is defo start date for myself and they do not give it away unless Ive failed the medical.

It was mentioned as 26th by interviewer and HR, will have to see.

How did the medical go?

Medical is ok so long as you're fit (ish) can touch your toes and don't take too many drugs
