Hello, I was recently travelling from Three Bridges to London bridge, and being honest I didn’t have a ticket.

Although on my last stop to London bridge I was approached by a ticket inspector asking me to provide a valid ticket. I came up with the excuse that my phone died, but then he brought me off the train and started asking me questions. Eventually I got a ticket saying that I once I charge my phone, I need to upload a picture of my ticket or barcode ticket.

Since we already know I don’t have a ticket I can’t upload anything, and will then be charged a pricey ticket. If anyone knows what to do, please tell me. If there’s a way to push back the pay date or get out of the ticket.

So if anyone knows what to do from here, or if there is a way to forge a fake ticket to upload, or fake barcode it will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Fraud is not good. Asking for help on a forum that can help you to commit fraud is also not good. But to put your thoughts to rest. To make a fake barcode/E-Ticket that will show the correct information is practically impossible.

The TOC will know and instead of a penalty or out of court settlement this will get you to court pretty speedy. More pros on the forum will reply. Don't commit fraud is my help to you.

Just accept you lied to the inspector and pay what ever is needed.

The barcodes on eTickets (more accurately they are Aztec codes) are impossible to forge without the private keys which are, well, private and not in the public domain. Luckily for you Thameslink will likely resolve this comparatively favourably compared with some other train companies.

Do you have an online portal to upload your ticket to and is there an email or postal contact address on there?

Welcome to the forum.

Rail fare evasion is a serious issue and you can be prosecuted in the criminal courts. It is not like a getting a parking ticket.

Instead of uploading a copy of the non-existent ticket I suggest uploading a short, concise letter saying that you did not have purchase a valid ticket for your journey. ALso mention:

- That you are sorry for what has happened
- What you have learned from the incident
- That you are keen to settle the matter without the need for court action
- Offer to pay the outstanding fare and the train company's administrative costs in dealing with the matter

It's not clear whether your dealing with Southeastern or Govia Thameslink Railway (both have staff at London Bridge) but they are normally willing to offer an out of court settlement to people who co-operate with them and who haven't come to their attention before. Expect an out of court settlement to cost the proce of the fare avoided at the full Anytime rate, with no credit given for the invalid ticket you did buy. In addition you will have to pay an admin fee, typically around £150. You will need to be in a position to pay the settlement in full within a few days of it being offered.

Feel free to upload a draft copy of the letter and forum members will proof read it for you.
