377501 did seeming get back to Selhurst some 30mins late (not unexpected). I managed to get some images of the unit when it went through Blackfriars.

Also like to point out that one of the two trailers (and both DM's) of 501 is 2+2 seating throughout. I was trying to get to see the trailer behide the leading DM but the signal changed and I didnt get the chance.

For my images of finally seeing the unit properly see here

May another unit will arrive soon but I can't see any 377/5's in service come KO0 tho.

Congrats on finally snapping a 377/5. :) I was at Blackfriars for about 20 minutes until 1310 as it happens and I didn't know 501 passed through until after I got home - was I too early or too late? I'd love to have seen the seating layout for myself now you mention the greater use of 2+2, and they've toned the interior lights down (or so it seems) so it's hard to tell what it looks like from your pics.

Today's Railways UK (April 2009 issue) have published an article on the TLP, including a picture of 201 in Moorgate on February 20. They claim that 'high voltage in the third rail' was responsible for a couple of failed changeovers by 377s which then went into Moorgate.

Anyway, I have another set of Blackfriars pictures which include today's (first?) Sevenoaks 319, old posters from years ago (as old as me apparently!) and the temp platform 5 entrance.

Here are some more visual sights for your delectation, including a new TLP video by FCC...

Oh dear Im in that video! Thankful Im alittle too out of range to see me :)

Intresting that they said its the 3rd rail that caused the problem. maybe that affected the 319s as well but it doesn't explain why at the same time trains switching to AC failed.

The posters made us laugh when they were uncovered a few weeks back (same thing happened in the Tube station before it closed) as some posters are older than some of the staff!

Sadly my pics the sun was out too much and all you get is the reflection. But myself, a driver and another member of staff had a look at the seating. Im told that the other trailer did have 2+2 seating although I didn't see it. The cardboard is on most of the tables as well although in certain places its been pulled back. Not sure why.

501 came through Blackfriars at 1134. I only found out at 0700 when chatting to the driver on his way to bedford to pick up 501 and drive it down to Selhurst. Spend the rest of the day awaiting its arrival.

Now we await news of the first run in passanger service by a 377/2.

Another 377/5 gen update (by John Atkinson this time):

FCC 377/5 units
Update here
Unit 7501 is now standing in depot marshalled between
Translators, will be going as
5X78 09+45 Selhurst depot to Berby Litchurch Lane
(GBrF move)

7504 was coupled with 7205 overnight and ran as
5Z51 23+25 Selhurst depot - Brighton
5Z73 02+30 Brighton - Selhurst depot.
Then splitting and 7504 now forming
5Z50 04+35 Selhurst depot to Bedford Cauldwell.

The saga is still as fluid as ever, particularly if the last line is anything to go by.

Intresting a few 319 will sleep at Selhurst and come into service from the depot. There's a reference in the new timetable for the service from Selhurst but no times.

footnotes at the bottom of page 90 (sutton - bedford TT) theses services are listed here,

F starts from selhurst 0536, calls additionally at thornton heath 0538, norbury 0540, ans streaham common 0543

G starts from selhurst 0556, calls additionally at thornton heath 0558, norbury 0600, streatham common 0603.

Thank you very much. Interesting document indeed.

I can say for sure they really have thought about this and have a very robust plan of action come Monday 23rd March. I can say from a staff's point of view this is good news and we have a working plan :)

**edit**

An Electrostar in FCC full logo will look like this!

Actually, 375215 doesn't even exist. ;) (If you're thinking of 377/2s, they do have the newer, and IMO better looking light clusters).

The orignal picture has 75216 on it on the right side, Im guessing they photo shopped a Southeastern one instead of a Southern one.

Fleet information for KO0

2 317 units
8 377/2 units
2 377/5 units
5 465 units

Come on then! Spill the beans, let's get some rumours going to relieve the boredom! What have you heard?

The driver who told me was the driver you spoke to who took the unit to Selhurst yesterday.

I heard from someone higher up its the couplers :|

That driver was a nice guy :D

Forgot to add this

Sorry forgot the 319s

99 four car diagrams

83 x 319
08 x 377/2
04 x DC only (465/466)
02 x 377/5
02 x 317 (on loan from GN until 15/05 then it becomes 2 x 319)
03 x 319 'spares'

The final four are due to be moved to FCC by the end of next week (ie friday night is possible).

Southern is getting London Midland's 350 and SouthEastern's 375 to cover for the 377/2's.

When they said a cross industry plan it really did mean just that.

Ok then that makes sense. I agree about the lights ;) They also look better on 170/171s.

4 ex-NSE TOCs is suddenly "Cross-Industry"??

Will be nice as trains which are currently crush-loaded in rush hour and full and standing off peak loose over fifty seats. Still its only WCML local passengers who clearly don't matter. :-x

Bit of a negitive attitude to the biggest engineering project on the UK railways annit it?

I dont know much about the Desiro (only used them once and have a whole car to myself) but there is alot more going on that just moving some stock around.

Presumably it means that some 321s will survive a bit longer on the WCML until the 350s are released ?

87015, the use of the 350/1s in a short term measure, the provision of the 377/2s to FCC is for 12 weeks only, and reduces from day one gradually through the following 12 weeks. There is a great deal of "Cross Industry" co-operation with trains being loaned from here, there and everywhere to make this work.

This is not some disjointed half-arsed attempt at running a project, the teams, from all sides, FCC, NWR, Southern and even the DFT are pulling together to make this work as much as possible.

Thats interesting that 215 is up at Bedford. So the first 'painted number' unit may already be at Bedford then? 203 was the unit on test today and made an appearance on P2 as 1z51. The unit (sadly) was only on a training run. It was due through at 1041 but was held behind a late Bedford service. The unit went to Luton and didnt reappear before I left for home around 1300.

504 went back to Selhurst in the early hours (as 5z26) arriving there around 0615. At the same time was a test run using an Electrostar (5z22), Im guessing that was 504 then, it also ran 5z23, 5z24 an 5z25. Run 5z27 was cancelled.

I think the point here to make is the fact that Bonbarbier have had some serious issues with supplies these trains and these events are outside their mostly outside their control. What the positive side to all this is the everyone inloved have said down and got futher industry support and managed to come with a solution to make sure this happens and the network can cope with it. That in itself is rather important as different TOCs working to benefit not only themselfs but the public view on the industry. With this they can say yes there are problems but we as a group can solve them. After all how many times have we heard the bad outcomes of what happens when you dont work together?

Hear hear.

Regarding 215's trip to Bedford, it's just as well because the 377 training for platform staff such as yourself must go on, right?

Upon my latest trip to Blackfriars, there was a little more progress on the temp P5 entrance/exit as expected. The last four pictures are relatively hard to make out because of the translucent hoarding, but in pics 432/435/436 are we witnessing the genesis of the temp P4/P5 footbridge?

Don't hate me for this but here are some clearer pictures of the new footbridge I took today! Im actually just uploading a bunch to Flickr as I type this so you give it some space before you look!

The new bridge between platforms 4 & 5 is, Im told, due to be finished by the 22nd along with the new exit/entrance at Farringdon. its tight but do-able say NR.

Id just like to point out that we should ALL remember the basic rules of taking pictures on the station. No flash and if you are taking alot ask the station staff. Unless there's a good reason we will let you take images. This last week we've had a mixed bag and its damaging our case to take pictures if people are being clearly dangerous. Trust me even Ive had to had words with people this week. Not good.

Note we had a special visitor and no I dont mean 377203 (which didnt come back when I was there).

I am however rather proud of the 3 Networkers picture Ive uploaded. Something that I may not get the chance to do again.

As for the 377 training, well thats interesting as Im not going to be having it before the new timetable kicks in and no-one else will be. I can say however FCC have in place a system to ensure if there is any problems with the new D1C timetable then there will be the right people in the right place. And no Im nit giving futher information. But Im confident this should work well.

That's it, I'm not talking to you again. I'm almost tempted to become coprophagous if both pieces of said vital infrastructure are completed in 10 days time.

On a serious note, if you don't mind me asking (it's nothing to do with 'D1C' whatever that means), what dangerous acts have you seen at Blackfriars recently?

Saw 377 5 sat in the Bedford sidings this morning. First time I've seen it and surprised it doesn't yet have any FCC branding.
Looking forward to travelling on it as my experience of 377s on Southern is a pleasant one and may, just may, use FCC rather than EMT.
