Network Rail are carrying out fault finding work and testing are the signalling equipment to see which lines are affected. This will carry on over night.

This will enable them to feed information back to the TOCs so they can arrange contingency plans, should there be any disruption risk to the start of the morning service tomorrow.

So far it’s looking good in terms of recovery, so hopefully normal service will be ready for start of service tomorrow. Of course this could be subject to change since the time of this post.

TOCs need to know by the beginning of the night to arrange contingency plans. By the morning is too late

Siemens think they have located the issue, they plan to load the new data and carrying out testing in a 2 hour period overnight. In the meantime testing has been underway to identify what infrastructure is available in the current state so a service can be planned for tomorrow if the new data does not fix the issue.

Serious questions need to be asked here why pre testing hasn't identified the issue.

Just as well part of MML was already blocked so there was already a reduced service.

I've discovered where it states there are no through trains between Reigate / Caterham / Tattenham. Its in the section headed 'Buses
replace trains between Crystal Palace and West Croydon via Norwood Junction'

Didn't it occur to you to look under Crystal Palace to West Croydon for Reigate to Victoria trains?

Trying to contact Thameslink for help with services from Redhill. They don't seem to know that Redhill exists, just got a response saying that East Midlands trains are not calling. No acknowledgement of issues meaning no trains at Redhill.

Then their website says if I am at Earlswood I can use the bus to Redhill and then I must use a Southern train to East Croydon. Now I think Southern and Thameslink are operated by roughly the same people, so not knowing that all Southern trains from Redhill to East Croydon are withdrawn today (1R Reigate services) seems a bit incompetent but also they have not agreed ticket acceptance on 405 bus!

Earlswood (as you’ll know) is such an after thought for TL, and to be honest so is the entire Redhill line. The service that we receive is dreadful and when the most reliable option is Southern to Victoria, that’s something. 9Rs are never not canned and the Peterborough trains are hit and miss too. And also to hide any information relating to the withdrawals of the 1R services is bad. I would have never have thought to look there as West Croydon has nothing to do with Redhill and the lot.

NR have done dozens of recontrols without issue wonder whats gone awry here?

Indeed, standard pre-tests include off line tests, over & back testing and rehearsals. I would be very surprised if these were not completed but then if they were, they should have found 'bugs in the system'. It is not a good idea to go straight into the commissioning and debug the system in service
