Doesn't seem very 'on brand'. However, the idea of showing a message if there's an incident to be investigated is a good one.

Has a manual been issued yet on how to use the PIS or was this just a driver figuring it out on his own accord?

The left screen looks like a background image for an item on the evening news, not something I'd expect on a PIS.

How do you get on with claiming delay - Repay. I have got sick of the hassle trying so don't bother any more.

The whole process of. Claim - reject - appeal - reject - appeal to travel watch - get paid is too tedious for what little money you get back.

I guess their system works, offer it, make it too painful to bother claim then GTR are winners. (But that is another thread)

On line its very efficient 95% of claims and get paid within a week.

BUT.

The ones that they for whatever reason do decide to reject seems to lock them in a "we will continue to reject" mode and takes eons to resolve. They are the claims that involve you claiming back fares for other services (ie an advertised announced alternative route the other TOC refuses your TL ticket). Then when theyve spent 3 months refusing to pay, they tell you the time limit to claim has expired. Except I keep going.

As I previously mentioned a couple of weeks ago, all Thameslink services including the current Southern 377 BTN-LBG trains will be operated by class 700s by 10th September.

I believe this date has now slipped a week and the LBG-BTN will now convert to 700 operations on 17th Sept

I once got turfed off a Bedford to Brighton train at Kentish Town after being delayed for quite some time. Thameslink rejected my claim for delay repay, claiming I could have avoided been delayed less than 30 minutes by getting another train from my origin station... A train that hadn't arrived when I left and sailed through Kentish Town. Can't make this **** up .

It's almost like their Delay Repay staff don't even understand how trains work.

Judging by how successful the last year (plus) of running of these new brilliant trains has been I guess everybody at TL now wishes they had gone with a Hitachi product instead (hopefully they took part in the tender!).

They don't. But it's not just Delay Repay staff, it's anyone in GTR who communicates with customers. They don't understand websites, ticketing or TVMs either :(.

I think the main problems with your theory are that 'Thameslink' didn't actually order the trains, and Hitachi had removed themselves from the competition in about 2009...

Alstom were eliminated from the contract, and at that time Stadler had no foothold in the UK market. So it was Bombardier vs Siemens, with Siemens having better cards due to the PFI structure of the Thameslink rolling stock contract.

Well if you believe what you read here, you'd think the driver had to press a button every few minutes to stop this message appearing by default.

Surely the left hand screen is there to help get the message across, but having a ( ! ) adds an element of confusion as seeing that first you may expect it to say the opposite

Something like this order, which was put up elsewhere in May, without dates:

Brighton to London Bridge
London Bridge to Horsham stoppers
London Bridge/Victoria to Littlehampton
Great Northern (Peterbrough/Cambridge to Kings Cross)
London Bridge/Victoria to East Grinstead
Great Northern (Cambridge/Welywn GC to Kings Cross)

I don't think any GN services are linked through the Core in January 2018, it's supposed to be 4 tph in May 2018 and the other 4 tph in Dec 2018. But that was the position at the start of all the recent consultations, it can always change

There was a post recently from a great northern driver stating selected Kings Cross - Peterborough services could change over in October. Small number of 12 car peak diagrams where dispatcher already exist.

The latest update on that front (from the member who was on here but left) is Full Thameslink Rollout > London Bridge to Brighton > Limited Peterborough Services > London Bridge to Horsham. That should be coming to an end by October/November by his estimates

Confirmed by this story from Rail magazine:

http://www.railmagazine.com/news/fleet/siemens-class-700s-for-gn-this-autumn

Class 700s will enter traffic on the Great Northern this Autumn.

The introduction is planned in two stages. Initially two 12-car Class 700/1s will replace two sets of three four-car Class 365s on trains between Peterborough and London King’s Cross (the ‘365s’ run as 12-car formations).

Early next year eight eight-car Class 700/0s will replace ‘365s’ on the GN. Beyond that, details have yet to be confirmed.

Hey, I just thought of this. More to do with the Thameslink Programme than the trains themselves...

Can the 700s terminate at St Pancras High Level like an extra 2 platforms in case a train fails?

Following 700001's entry to service on Wednesday evening, the debut of 700123 this morning out of Three Bridges, the first of the 30-strong next batch of 700/1s. Currently working 2W66 2043 Three Bridges to Bedford for a Bedford finish tonight.

Do either of these have tables?

If not, which is the first unit to have them?
