Sure it was 700125 but it was a way off so might have misread

Think only seat backs fitted but to be honest didn't look very hard

Update for those of you on GN.. First 700s will start operation on GN in October (currently scheduled to be first week). They will be on two diagrams only, which are both existing 12 car diagrams on the Peterborough line meaning there is already dispatch staff available at all stations it calls at.. quite a clever way around the (alleged/rumoured!) problem really!

Wonder if they will go on services that were recently downgraded from 365s to 387s. If they are the 2nd capacity reduction won't be welcome. (But it is ok more standing room).

I assume the diagrams will start / finish at Hornsey? Like all the original 387 ones did.

It's what happens when the demand from passengers outstrips the line capacity. If it was up north, passengers would be able to continue to travel on the trains that they are used to, (over the last 30 years ).

The display at London Bridge says that the 1843 Thameslink to Brighton will not open the rear door at Gatwick Airport. Can that be right? I didn't think 700s had SDO and I thought all platforms at Gatwick can take a 12 coach 700 anyway.

700s have ASDO, although I don't know enough about Gatwick to comment on the rest of your post

What made you think 700s didn't have SDO?

One of the platforms at Gatwick can see the 700s stop with the back door half off the platform as the stopping point is a way back because of signal sighting.

And would that be a consequence of the driver's position in a 700 relative to a 377, do you know?

2E11 got canned today - problem with the doors again:
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/G48358/2017/08/25/advanced

I'm surprised this still hasn't been fixed, given how prevalent it has been in the year or so the trains have been in service now.

An awful lot has been fixed. As happens with every fleet. Equally, there are still faults happening with the newer trains as they enter service. It has been the case with the introduction of every new fleet. (People in Anglia take due warning for 2019).

It still stands that in the past 4-6 months of my commute, where there have generally been more 700s out than 319s / 377s, I have been delayed far more by failures of the latter two than the former.

It is also my experience that the TL service is running more reliably now than it has for a long time.

Platform 6 has tight signal sighting at the country end.

Anglia have thought ahead on this and I believe that they have got a contingency which they can put into place should the new Stadler units not be ready to enter service.

Between the parallel lines
Platform 6 has tight signal sighting at the country end.

The platform 5 and 6 island has been causing various bits of bother for some time, with different dispatch procedures and positioning updated accordingly. This applies for 387s too, for example.

That being said, since the 700s have arrived, they do seem to have had more than their fair share of sighting issues, whether that be for platform staff dispatch or for signals. I have mentioned the issues with Tulse Hill in different contexts with regards to SDO - which has been set for 6.5 coaches on at least one platform, against 8 for all other regular stock in use*. This is because at least one and a half extra coaches' length of space was deemed necessary to be able to clearly see the whole of the signal...

...and that's not to mention the prevailing instruction for dispatch at certain stations, which states that platform staff now have to stand in front of the cab with their dispatch bat/flag/light, because the trains weren't designed to have someone stand next to the cab windows and give the same signals. For stock which will operate DOO so often, that's an astonishing oversight, resulting in a few seconds of performance risk at certain stations, and an unwieldy operation at some platforms.

*The main oddity being SDO 5 coaches for the once-in-a-blue-moon 171 workings, but that's a different matter entirely.

GTR had a contingency, parts of which were implemented.

Anyone know when the 700s will enter service on the London Bridge thameslink off peak services and will this be gradual or change all in one go , 4 coachs on off peak Brighton trains is not sufficient

Also will the peak London Bridge to Brighton and Littlehamptons also change at the same time

Intesting thing to do however. Demand grows cut capacity. Understand you can get more standing passengers on a train than sitting ones hence why the 700 is a good thing.

Was going to look up the average age of great northern stock, as although it has just had the 387s introduced, it was one of the few operators with only ex-BR stock this time last year.

The fact it is just merge as GTR Thameslink railway Thameslink side is bringing the average down. (Watches the is a 40+ year old PEP better or worse than a pacer debate start).

The TfL status screen of the train I'm on is very out of date - last updated at 01.31 on 24/08. It's telling us that the Piccadilly line is part closed, whereas in reality it's the Overground that's disrupted today. Surely it could be modified so that the screen doesn't display if it's hasn't been updated for a while?

Another return trip to Farringdon today, no issues. I've probably had about 50 journeys on class 700s without a single failure. The nearest I got to one was on 700109, the first train to run through the core with fare-paying passengers. That train was stuck at either City Thameslink or St Pancras (I can't remember exactly) for nearly 10 minutes because the driver hadn't lined up exactly by the stop marker and the doors wouldn't open. Not bad for it's first day. Even the PIS displays seem to work all thie time now.
I note that some of the comments here like "(yet) another class 700 sits down today" are often wrongly attributed as the fault of the train, - sometimes it is a 319 or even Electrostar, but the blame goes on the class 700. When the actual situation is discovered by somebody with access to the official record, there's no comment from the original RUK 'reporter'.

being gone to gn for months now how did the class 700s handle the first day running the full timetable any incidents or delays.

Now the 319s have gone and the last remaining 377/5s go next week, will the raised platforms in the core be fitted to give step-free access from platform to the two centre cars (6&7 on 700/1s and 4&5 on 700/0s). That may also entail some tweaking the stop boards and/or balises. Then it's time that ATO was tested in the core (with live passengers
