Indeed. I don't think the average passenger cares either way, but there's definitely been a cost to change the logo and everything that goes with it - either now or in the future when the 700s will have all the branding inside and out changed. Unnecessarily IMO.
If the 700s had introduced the new logo and the old trains had the old logo until they went, I could have understood the logic of a new logo (just). These are, after all, the trains we've been patiently waiting for - unlike the temporary (and in use for longer than originally intended) 377/387s.
I've got to agree, oh the paradox, the brand new and still being delivered trains get the old logo, the older trains that are getting replaced get the new logo.
GTR were clear about the lack of drivers and the need to recruit and train very early on in their franchise.
