So our almighty oracle of all things TL has no new information on this? I'm dissapointed.
That's quite funny, but not surprising. If there were major changes, I could fully understand it, but the TOC logo is a separate thing put on the train last. Intentionally not part of the main vinyl so it can be changed at any time, and speeds up debranding at the end of a franchise.
So given not all the trains are finished, it's madness that someone couldn't liaise with the necessary people in the chain to switch the artwork and produce new vinyls, and then only have to change the trains already done.
I would sincerely hope that no train actually enters service with the old logo, but what a waste of money to peel off the old one and put on a new one. Actually, it's not so much the cost but the time and logistics of it all.

I wonder if such things would happen if trains were still ordered by BR and then built by BREL. The fragmented privatised railway seems to just have infinite examples of small bits of waste which must add up into a whole lot of money.

Perhaps Siemens has already been provided or has ordered hundreds of vinyls with the old logo and as such don't want to redo it
I imagine if each carriage has two vinyls and we multiply it by the number of carriages ordered, it will come to quite a large sum.
Yes, but GTR would still be better off stumping up for 'reprints' so the ones already printed aren't put on only to be taken off again.
It would surely be cheaper in the long run.

This has little or nothing to do with the 'fragmented privatised railway'. The DfT placed a contract for the supply of train services with Cross London Trains, comprising Siemens, infrastructure investment group Innisfree and 3i Infrastructure plc. In turn Cross London Trains placed the order for the trains with Siemens AG.
The DfT specified the trains, so if they are being delivered with an old logo then the reason lies in the DfT's contract with Cross London Trains. If another part of the DfT has then agreed with GTR that a new identity for trains running the Thameslink service group was required then the reason for the confusion lies within the DfT.
Although hasn't the logo already been changed on the first few 700s once? From the original logo that was actually fairly similar to the new one, but without the pink /
I must admit it does seem somewhat wasteful regardless of what is done now, but at least applying the new logo straight away saves wasting time taking 24 logos off and re applying new ones once they arrive..

Really? I would have thought in the bad old days, BR would place the order and then BREL would build it. Can't imagine they would have had much trouble telling themselves halfway through the build to change a logo decal.
BREL existed for 20 years and Met-Cam, Brush, Met-Vickers etc still built stuff for BR.
And you're right, they wouldn't have stressed over a decal. But then reportedly the wiring on (for example) each 442 is really quite different.
Modern build contracts will specify every single last thing and have a change-control process to follow for any changes and deviations.

Press "introduction/launch" run is on 10th May but that may just be a rumour!

Once again Thameslink and its ilk promise "Jam Tomorrow".
Sod the press launch, get them in service for the paying public, as soon as they've passed their safety & reliability tests and they've trained enough drivers who aren't on rest days, lets have them in service.
Wouldn't it be amazing if just for once GTR had MORE than enough trains to run the Thameslink service.

One tonight if the conversation between (T) and (TD) was correct as 3T13 & 3T23 had to go into the down yard to make space for the new arrival.

I'd love to believe this was a joke, however I'm getting a bad feeling that it certainly isn't. And surely it can't just be the logo?!
I am of course joking about the logo, and it would be nice to know the real reason.
Thank goodness for that!!! Although I wouldn't put something like that past GTR!!

There's info, just not confirmed and pointless giving info that can't be trusted.
However 700114 is booked to arrive at Three Bridges tonight on 6X66 01+01 Dollands Moor to Three Bridges Depot.
As of 01.30 66721 is passing Ashford with 700114 in tow (6X66 as usual) and a 700 (107 I think?) is in platfom 6 at Victoria. First visit there for one.
London Bridge (all Central side platforms) were visited by a 700 in the early hours of Monday 18th by the way.

Well, with all those trains through the core, 2-platform stations and precious few passing places... Perhaps "Jam" is a serious risk...

Nothing to do with that. Victoria is already the alternative point for TL services so checking out routes the trains are supposed to take is the point of commissioning.
Should have visited the Eastern side hence platform 6 arrival/departure.
700107 worked the following;
5T98 23+27 Three Bridges TL Depot to London Victoria arriving 00+18
5T99 04+00 London Victoria to Three Bridges TL Depot
