I suppose the one advantage with using public funds would be that the cable car would be integrated with the TfL transport system in London and not just the DLR?

I agree, especially when it was 1st proposed i am sure it read that no public money would be used.

That was the original plan. The story is that there was a choice between that or it being ready for Summer 2012. Personally I'd ahve ben prepared to wait.

Personally i would have prefered a monorail, but i wouldnt even begin to drem how much that would cost.

I'm slightly worried that there's been no comment on ticketing yet. Is it included in travelcards? Oyster PAYG only?

If it is receiving public money then it definitely should be included in the Travelcard and Oyster schemes. Particularly if it going to be shown as part of the DLR, as anthony263 says.

If it's to be shown on the Tube map, there's no reason to suppose it won't take Oyster.

The Thames Clipper receives public money (as well as piers being paid for by LRS/TfL) but only offers a discount to Oyster users - it does accept Oyster but is not included in travelcards.
