I'm travelling from Amsterdam to London in October (Monday 21 to be precise) and surprised to find that a one-way fare from Amsterdam to Brussels is coming in at £70. Last time I did this it was much cheaper. Are cheaper fares likely to be released closer to the time or is this as good as its going to get?

Thalys is now the only direct train between Amsterdam and Brussels, so it likely to be more expensive. By any chance did you last use Thalys on this route before January?

Yes, it was several years ago and I remember it being a total bargain!

Same. Last time I used Thalys the fares, even in First Class (Comfort 1), were mouth wateringly cheap!

I think I did Brussels - Amsterdam return in First Class for as little as £40 back in 2009, booking just over a week in advance.
