Hello
I will be travelling with 7 others from Paris to Bourg-Saint-Maurice in January on one of the direct ski TGVs.

We are keen to get 2x tables of four, so I will do some dummy bookings to try and get the Club-4 seats.

However last year we travelled on two TGV duplex from Paris to Lyon and back - both times our tickets said club-4, but on the second train we ended up with airline seats which was disappointing.

Our seats last year were coach 7, seats 91-98 and coach 7, seats 61-68.

Questions please:

Is it guaranteed which version of the TGV duplex will operate the Bourg St Maurice route in the winter or could it be any type?

Are there any seat numbers which are ALWAYS a club-4 with table, regardless of which type of TGV is running?

I'm aware that by January the seat numbers will be changing to a new system which further complicated. If anyone has any of the new seating plans that would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance

No, the Sud-Est usually sees both Dayse (2nd gen), un-refurbed Euroduplex (3rd gen) and Euroduplex Océane (the newest refurb). And there isn't really a way to differentiate those, apart maybe from the 1st class seating map.

The seating will be simpler, as it becomes consecutive all round

There is a before and after on the thread :

We don't know since SNCF doesn't publish any 2nd class seat maps

There are some press releases but that is for the old numbering system

1st gen seating :

3rd gen non-océane :

From those they don't seem to be any shared from cursory glance

Seat61 has the new numbering for TGV Duplex 2nd & 3rd generations (not Océane) linked from his standard page:

BUT ... unless booking 1st class I didn't think it was possible to pick or change seats on SNCF. Am I wrong?

It's not possible indeed, but people say SNCF can do change the seat over the phone.

Never tried it myself

It is also possible to add multiple sets of seats to your basket, and then delete the ones you don't want, I believe.

Obviously not true free choice but gives some options.

Thanks for the help above!
