The big laugh I had with the 150/2s, was when York Works rang Derby Loco up, and asked about progress on the bogies. Bodyshells were ready. No-one had actually told Derby Loco to build the bogies. Soon got them underway with a bit of overtime thrown in.
Oops..... Epic project manager fail (assuming that one had been appointed lol)....

Hopefully clearance for 'the English end' of the Birmingham route should be relatively easy given that 196s are cleared between Salop and Brum. Are there any big issues for the rest of it?

They're already cleared ECS Shrewsbury to Birmingham for access to Tysley depot. The complicated bit on that route, and the bit where comparisons with 196s don't count for a whole lot, will be setting up ASDO and making sure the stopping points are ok. The 196s run with ASDO isolated, as all platforms on the route are at least 4 cars long. TfW will need ASDO to work.

There are plans in place and a date in the not too distant future when the work is hoped to be completed by.

The Cambrian will be a lot more complex, especially when the coast is included; lots of short platforms, level crossings at stations that need to be taken into account, plus the requirement to have ETCS working, and the need to train up nearly all ofthe crews. 3 out of 3 driver depots and 2 out of 3 guards depots that will sign Birmingham after the next TT change are all fully competent on 197s, but only a handful of instructors on the Cambrian do at present.

Uh oh! 1W22 1303 Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly currently down as 150+153 the whole way, and the 1930 Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff down as just the 150 on its own!

I’d be frozen solid doing multiple hours on that in this weather.

Probably be changed to 197

Anybody know the current status of 150242 and 150279 please?

Also, are my notes correct regarding 150227, 150230, 150237 & 150250 all having been withdrawn?

Believe so, 236 and 281 are scrapped and the rest are withdrawn at Landore.

Unless one of them has sneaked off to Sims without anyone noticing!

Failed at Treherbert and hasn't been out since. Me myself, I've been checking daily
That's one I need so won't hold much hope for that one then!

Anybody seen anything of 242 lately? That's another I need that hasn't been out this week so far :(

Half of 242 is in 279. They were the fire damaged ones, I don't know if the other halves have been repaired yet, or if they even will be.

Oh yeah, forgot about that! Shame 279 is knackered then as I could have gotten both 242 and 279 done in a single journey :D

I quite literally just saw it, it's on the line closest to the mainline at Canton. (Next to the relief one at the Pullman depot)

Is the acquisition of Sims' Newport site by Unimetals now complete? Does anyone know the transfer date, please? Many thx

From Google:

On September 30, 2024, Unimetals Group Limited (the "Company"), a UK headquartered metals processing, recycling and trading business, completed its acquisition of Sims Group UK Limited, the UK's second largest metal recycler and previously a subsidiary of Sims Limited, an Australian publicly listed global leader.

Looks like September 30 2024 was the formal transfer date to Unimetals Group.

150279 has returned from it's abnormally long stay at Canton: working to Swansea and back empty as a test run.
