The 175 that was visible at Longsight has now disappeared but unsure where to.

The 175 at Longsight (110?) two coaches of which had been parked at the south end for many months, regained its third coach a couple of weeks ago. Late last week, the whole unit was parked in the sidings to the north of the shed where TPE Mk5 were often to be seen.

Somewhere I read that a couple of TfW class 150s had been withdrawn as life expired, and had been withdrawn for spares , but I cannot recall the numbers. But they went to Landore.
TFW 150s are being withdrawn when they are due for their next C6 overhaul

Is 175111 still at Longsight? I went past one morning last week and it was being attached to one of the Class 08s and when I went past later on in the evening it had disappeared.

Some one posted a while ago its broken, I presume Chester is too unless its set up now purely for 197s? Either way it seems a hell of a long way to go for the wheel lathe. Where do GWR go for their wheel lathe work?

I didn't think Chester had a lathe, they tend to go to the ETD at Crewe.

You could well be right, I have always assumed that little shed on its own near the road bridge/station was the wheel Lathe, to be fair I've never seen the doors open

Longsight is a magical depot

The unit was moved from the south to the north end of the depot and is now amongst the stored Trans Pennine MK5 stock

A 197 also went to Newton Heath for maintenance earlier this year so it's not unprecedented that a TfW unit would go to Newton Heath.

Of course and the fact Newton Heath also has CAF staff working there means its not unusual at all but to send a 150 on a 400 mile round trip considering St Philips Marsh is 40 odd, is odd.

Possibly they'd need to go to Exeter not st Phillip Marsh? Or possibly St Phillip Marsh doesn't have availability.

It, has been duly reported on Monday 01st July 2024, 175004 175009, had a Warm Storage run, details are on the Old rail website between Ely Mlf Papworth and Cambridge, making a rare site of a Class 175 at Cambridge. Not often or probably first time a 175 has appeared there.
So obviously being run in warm store for future use. Not often do we see a unit go into store at Ely Papworth then shortly afterwards have a run afterwards moves was:
1. 5Q48 1034 Ely Mlf Papworth to Cambridge Tsrmd.
2. 5Q49 1649 Cambridge Tsrmd yo Ely Mlf Papworth.
Both above reported as 175004 175009.

Another reminder that speculation/suggestions as regards to future Class 175 use (e.g. with Scotrail or GWR etc) should be confined to this thread:

Apparent reports of 150281's lights being ripped out at Landore, meaning that it's now being taken for parts and is soon to head for scrap, that's for sure.
Haven't got any photo evidence but I wouldn't be surprised by this news.

I would assume 236 has had the same treatment?
