I'm currently on a Llandudno service and sat in standard plus. The timetable advertises the train as conveying standard class only and the TfW website says standard plus is available on Holyhead services, not Llandudno.

Am I fine to sit here with a standard class ticket at no additional charge?

Update: The train became a little bit more quiet at Flint so I moved to standard to avoid any conflict. Upon leaving Flint the Conductor came down and went straight to Standard Plus. Although I didn't see if they tried to charge a supplement I don't think they did given they were not in the carriage long.

I have to admit I am not impressed with TfW on this one. When more capacity is needed they go and introduce half a carriage which carrying around fresh air while the rest of the train is rammed.

Standard Plus doesn't yet exist / isn't enforced, and even when it is, the timetable wouldn't indicate this. It's similar to Standard Premium on Avanti.

A train can only convey First or Standard Class accomodation in the datafeeds.

On the commercials, I do not doubt for one moment that people will happily pay more for it, if it means they get a seat from a busy standard class.

If the upgrade is reasonable and a single seat is available I absolutely will, for one. Though I stopped on Avanti as I find the new Standard seats more comfortable than the new First Class ones.

I noticed signs on board in standard saying about going into Standard Plus and upgrading. There is also a page on the TfW website listing the routes it's available on and upgrade fares on BRfares.

Do you have a source to say it doesn't exist and isn't enforced yet as this would be useful?

I ended up moving when possible to avoid possible conflict.

I can’t think if TFW have put it somewhere officially but internally we have 100% been told that upgrades are not being sold at the moment.
Initially it was said to us that it wasn’t going to be done in peak summer when we are struggling for capacity and also the units had no branding.

It was supposed to start in September (ish?) once the branding was fitted and then another email was sent out saying that the roll out was being delayed again.

Well In theory, these should be mostly running Manchester - Swansea coupled up to a 2 car to make a 5 coach service so capacity shouldn’t be an issue.

We must also remember that these were procured as part of an entire fleet renewal so capacity should be taken care of fleet wide and this was a way of providing a better quality product. Of course the MK4’s are now providing another tier above.

If you feel that there are still Capacity issue, there are, but all of the new fleets are not in service yet.
