TFW website promotes First Class Upgrades on their Mark4 services, available on board or via Seatfrog. I have upgraded on board in the past.

BRFares lists Weekend and Weekday upgrades, but says 'No Fares Available'

1. Are on board upgrades still available, or are they now offered only via Seatfrog?

2. If they are still available, what are the Weekend and Weekday upgrade fares Manchester-Cardiff?

3. Is it a flat fare, or are there lower fares for upgrades between intermediate stations (e.g. Manchester -Shrewsbury)?

4. What are Seatfrog like with refunds when there is no First Class provided on the booked service?

1. Yes, onboard upgrades are still very much available

2. TfW don't operate London - Cardiff, that's GWR. Or did you mean Manchester - Cardiff?

3. £10, £15 or £20 depending on distance travelled, Mon - Fri. £10 flat upgrade at weekends. Note that there is no reduction for children or railcards.

4. No idea, sorry.

Just had another look. It says 'No Fares Available' when I enter a Railcard, but not when I leave the Railcard option clear.

Lesson learned for the future!
Ah yes, it won't "fall back" to the public-rate fare like a journey planner (or maybe some/all TISes?) would. :)
