Hi everyone . Recently went chester to shrewsbury on a 2 for 1 which was delayed 54 min . Put two claims in and one was paid straight away £2.40 but the second they are clinging on (Your claim is now being reviewed by one of our Agents, you should receive a decision shortly)
Contacted them via twitter but they say its in a que?
Anyone know how to get them to move with my claim ?
Thanks

For two pounds and forty pence I wouldn’t waste a second of my time chasing it up. It’ll be paid eventually.

This is a pretty normal thing to happen. Most (all?) TOCs use automated systems to deal with the bulk of delay repay claims, which automatically pay clearly valid ones and automatically reject clearly invalid ones. Those require very little human intervention and as such tend to be paid in a fairly short time.

Sometimes the system will put claims into a queue to be reviewed by a human, which can take quite a while (sometimes a few weeks), but they haven't forgotten about you and it will be paid eventually. I imagine this occurs if there is something unusual about the claim - but judging by what's happened to my claims in the past, in some cases it also seems to do it randomly, presumably as a sort of spot-check to make sure the system isn't being significantly abused.

I doubt there is much you can do to accelerate the process at this point, but if you haven't had an update for a while you could consider emailing them to chase.

However, if you travelled on a 2 for 1 offer, what exactly are you claiming for? Surely one of the tickets was free and therefore no compensation is due? Or was it actually issued as two half-price tickets?

Two for 1 is a third of travel so we paid 9.40 ish each and its been three weeks since we travelled and claimed . It irks me that they paid one not the other thats all.

One has probably gone into a quality check or manual review queue. This is pretty normal, you'll just have to wait.

I'd give it another week before chasing it up. These things take time (and yes, I do appreciate it can be frustrating).

"Blood out of a stone" feels a bit over dramatic for a claim that is outstanding for 3 weeks, and as far as you know is still going through the process. If it had been rejected once, and then again on appeal, then the title might be more appropriate.

And as for "it's a matter of principle" - again, it hasn't been rejected yet. Is your principle that every claim needs to be turned around within a set time. Three weeks, whilst a tad slow, still doesn't seem particularly unreasonable. I would have thought beyond a month it would start to become unacceptable if you haven't heard anything.

I just think it would be polite to be given a time scale rather than having to post on a forum. Irrespective of the value.

Your choice to post on a forum, over a £2.40 claim that's really not been in the system that long.

If something as trivial as this gets you so worked up, I'm not sure how you will cope with other, more material, inconveniences that life might throw at you.

Inclined to agree with @Brissle Girl. The amount still outstanding is 'de minimis', and at the end of the day it's all a question of proportionality. :|

Ive never done a TfW delay repay, but I have done them online with LNER, Cross Country, Northern and Scotrail. Every time the automated email I got to acknowledge receipt of my claim mentioned their target time to respond (generally 20 working days, as it happens).

Does TfW’s not have something similar?

Broadly similar timeframe I would suggest. TfW Wales website states (this for general refund requests)...

"All refund requests will be processed as soon as possible, and no later than 1 month after it is received."

Has the OP been waiting that long yet?

I put in a delay repay claim to TFW on Sunday lunchtime and I was refunded on Monday morning.
Which was something of a surprise. But a welcome one.

Most likely an automated system, no need for manual approval.

Happens quite often.
Thanks you
3 1/2 weeks now
IIRC it can take up to 28 working days for them to get around to you, it varies from TOC to TOC, I just recommend waiting and following up after 28 working days.

Avanti is only now replying to emails which I had sent back in May.

I had 2 claims with TfW, one for myself and one for my daughter. One was paid instantly, the other headed off for manual checking. It came through yesterday after 3 and a half weeks, so you're probably not far off getting yours through. The only other one I've needed to claim recently was with West Midlands Trains and the manual checking on that was just 12 days.
