67017 has been removed from HD06 at Crewe ETD, following yesterdays failure. 67008 is now on that rake and is back over at Crewe ATC.
First time being back in service after it's crash?HD02 is allocated tomorrow for the Manchester diagram (shows as 67020 on RTT fyi) if I have the time I'll go out and take a ride.
Correct. If I'm up to it I'll take a ride from Newport to Cardiff.First time being back in service after it's crash?
Sounds good. Will be good to have HD02 back with us.Correct. If I'm up to it I'll take a ride from Newport to Cardiff.
It wont be. Its been swapped for spare rake HD06 to iron out some minor glitches picked up today.A successful day for HD02!
For those who want to see or ride on it tomorrow, it'll be working 1V33, 1W59 and 1V50 tomorrow with the locomotive on the Cardiff end* (under the assumption the set goes via WBQ*)
Ah, maybe not then. That might be an investigation into the power issues on Coach A earlier and probably a few behind the scenes issues then.It wont be. Its been swapped for spare rake HD06 to iron out some minor glitches picked up today.
At this point the allocations on RTT for 1W11, 1W13 and 1W61 are not showing. 1W11 and 1W61 are on the same diagram so presumably remain 197s until HD02 is considered ok to rejoin the fleet properly. 1W13 is less clear given all the allocations to the other MK4 slots to Manchester are all showing as MK4.
Are they using the unit from 1W11 to run south towards Cardiff in lieu of 1V31? Seems a shame as 1W11 was on time arriving at Shrewsbury.Unit on 1W11 pine at Shrewsbury
67008 Set HD06 on 1V33 going via Chester & Wrexham

Get more people joining me on 1W12 (which is itself 25 minutes late having been 25 late leaving Cardiff due to a points failure)
Thank you for the explanation.1W11 has been cancelled at Shrewsbury as no onward crew for it. They arrive from Crewe on a service which has now had to divert via Wrexham to get around the failure. As Shrewsbury drivers don’t sign Cardiff, struggle to use any spares as they’d have to come from Crewe. (Either via taxi or also via Wrexham around the failed train)

Morning
Will 1W96 tonight be loco or DVT leading from Chester to Holyhead please ?
Thank you
Dave
@MP393If no other swaps happen because of this mornings disruption it should be HD04 + 67029, DVT Leading Chester - Holyhead.
It's a good thing 1W11 was a unit today. If it had been MKIVs as booked it would have been a lot harder to move it out the way once it got to Shrewsbury1W11 has been cancelled at Shrewsbury as no onward crew for it. 1W12 doesn't change driver till Crewe.Thank you for the explanation.
So possibly the same is about to happen to 1W12, though from memory this train usually changes crew at Crewe (though obviously could change at Crewe and Shrewsbury).
Thank you, I didn't think 1W12 changed at Shrewsbury but it usually uses Platform 3 so that's the opposite side of the train from my seat. Crewe Platform 6 is on the left. I felt like it was a different person doing the announcements between Shrewsbury and Crewe this morning. He was very apologetic about the various messes but referred to "a points failure on the earlier part of the journey" rather than the "points failure delaying departure from Cardiff" that the announcements south of Shrewsbury referred to.It's a good thing 1W11 was a unit today. Needless to say the 1W12 crew were doing a good job of reassuring passengers, presumably some of whom had been on 1W11.
Guard booked to change at Shrewsbury, driver at Crewe. A spare guard covered the Shrewsbury Crewe leg owing to the disruption. In general it's easier on the guards side to get things covered as Shrewsbury guards sign MKIVs and the route to Cardiff, whilst the drivers there don't sign either.Normally W12 changes guard at Shrewsbury, and driver at Crewe. Though it definitely can’t use platform 3 at Shrewsbury as you can’t access the Crewe line from there! Believe today there was then an extra train-crew change at Crewe just because of displacement.
1V37 was started at Crewe at 09:10 with units of a cancelled service, 197024 & 197018.

Guard booked to change at both Shrewsbury and Crewe, driver just at Crewe. The change at Crewe is required as neither the driver nor guard who bring it into there are from depots that sign Manchester.
Platform 4 is the only platform Cardiff - Manchester trains can use at Shrewsbury, as it's the only signalled access from the Hereford direction towards the Crewe line. If 1W11 had been MK4s, it would have had to have run into platform 4 anyway even if it was known at that point it was terminating at Shrewsbury. They aren't cleared for the bays or platform 3. It would then require any subsequent services running towards Crewe to shunt - likely putting an even longer delay on 1W12.
The two 197's for the 09.10 Crewe - Cardiff were formed from stabled stock in Crewe Station from cancelled services. I think they were from the cancelled 06.40 Crewe - Shrewsbury service. They were stabled in Platform 8. However they needed to be shunted from here to allow the 08.19 Crewe - Shrewsbury to arrive. The two 197's therefore were shunted from Platform 8 to the Down Refuge Siding which is alongside the Crewe - Stafford mainline by Crewe Arriva Traincare. Finally the 2 197's were then shunted back into the station for the 09.10 Crewe - Cardiff.Yes, sorry, cannot count. 7 is southbound and there are two bays at the south. I think it was 1W11 terminating in 4 that had confused my mind into thinking 4 was a bay.
I went on the 09:09 to Edinburgh from Crewe and was surprised when it was announced that there was a 09:10. Impressive that they found the units given that would have been the southbound working of the 1W11 stock on a normal day. I couldn't work out whether they had started the 09:10 at Crewe, or whether that pair had come from somewhere else. Not just 1 unit either, but 2.
AFAIK it had some issues the other day with reports of blue smoke, today it's apparently just gone bang and spilled oil all over the engine room during the failure. Think that's another loco gone for a while!Looks 67010 has failed at Wem on 1V31 with engine issues
