67007 is en-route to collect 67029+HD02 from Leominster. The rake will move a short distance to enable checks on the stock and infrastructure. Once this is complete it will then head to Crewe ETD for assessment/temporary storage.
@sd0733 First of all can I just thank you for all of the updates that you post here - they are very much appreciated, and they do give a great insight into the complexities of operating a relatively small fleet of trains.

My question is whether either of the two spare DVTs that TfW have had the necessary modifications to work with the Class 67s and could replace 82229 in set HD02 relatively quickly if needed, pending the damage assessment on 82229, or are they yet unmodified?

Losing HD02 for an extended period if neither of the DVTs are available is going to make the operation very tight until it returns - five daily diagrams from six sets is a tall order!

No problem at all!

My understanding is that both 82204 and 82220 have the necessary modifications for 67 Push-Pull working and Selective Door mods.
The issue is that both have surrendered quite a few parts to keep the rest of the fleet operational. The plan at one time was for the Spare DVT to follow HD08 being rebuilt/overhauled, i think that still stands.
HD02 has more issues than just the DVT, there's also wheelset, underframe equipment and internal damage to a few coaches too so the whole lot needs some attention.
Diagram wise, it's effectively 5 from 5 as the fleet is also mid-way through the current round of heavier B exams which take rakes out for 2 weeks at a time, 07 has just started then 05, 06 (and 02) are still due, so another 6 weeks with a set missing. On top of that is the '28 day' exams and any ad-hoc maintenance/repairs. As i understand it consideration is being made for semi-permanently subbing 1W11/1V37/1W59/1V50 to help.

Hopefully, there are some 197s around to cover. The worry is that the need for cover leads to short forms rather than additional units being used (for example, Cambrian bound ones)

Too often the short term cover leads to 2-car or 3-car Cardiff to Manchester.

Thanks a million for this - yes I did think that there might have to be a switch to 4 diagrams from 6 sets - it's too tight really otherwise.

Is that the one that starts with the 04xx Cardiff to Manchester?
Correct. I understand that this diagram is also very unfortunate to sacrefice due to the clash with rush hour times in Manchester (0830, 1630 ex Man)

1W11 certainly gets busy on the way into Manchester. Not so much further south.

The 16:30 ex Manchester can go to Swansea if it is a 197, no worries about having two sets arriving back at Canton at the same time ;)

Of course if it is a 5-car 197 that deputies there would be no issues. Just hard to get spare 197s at the moment too.

Yes there really is no excuse for.the 1630 not to go through to Swansea but I bet they have some excuse why it won't!

For this week at least 5 diagrams will be persevered with, requiring 100% availability. All 5 are able to run until Friday when HD04 stops over the weekend for an exam. Then none come due next week either.

67008 is expected back in the next couple of days, it requires a test run but as there's no spare coaches to go with it is planned to head to Shrewsbury and back light engine.
