67007 is now the recovery loco at Canton, as there's nothing running on Sunday it's planned for 67007 to take failed 67008, 010 and 013 back to Crewe ETD before going back to Canton giving a rare move of 4 67s.
67010 has now been made able to run this so it will just be the 3 locos with 010 hauling. Potentially still may be today but due to pathing it's more likely to run tomorrow. 67015 will also be going back onto HD03 after its exam rather than swapped to 016. Next set to fall for exam is HD05 but that's got until Saturday so can make it through the week.

With HD01 (wheelset replacement) and HD02 (heavy exam) out its left to HD03-07 to run the 5 diagrams.
Tomorrow should see the Crewe starts as 67015+HD03 (1V31) and 67029+HD04 (1V33), Holyhead as 67017+HD05 and the Cantons as 67020+HD06 (1W13) and 67014+HD07 (1W11)

Booked onto Friday's Evening Holyhead and then back on next Tuesday's for my Sister's wedding.

Here's hoping it all goes smoothly this week.

Morning

Im just curious..!

Do the driver and crew of the evening service to Crewe (1W96) have facilities to sleep at Holyhead station - or do they go to a hotel? - as they will be also on the morning Holyhead service (1W91)

Thank you

No it’s different crew for the morning & evening runs. Some of the catering staff based at Newport used to do overnight at Holyhead but even that has stopped now. Now the Holyhead morning caterers pass back after working it down; with a fresh set passing down to work 1W96 back.

1V91s driver and TM are both Holyhead based to Chester, then a Crewe driver takes it to Cardiff with a Shrewsbury TM to Shrewsbury and Cardiff TM for the last leg.

1W96 is a Cardiff driver & TM to start, driver takes it to Chester and the TM swaps at Shrewsbury for one based there, and both change at Chester for Holyhead crew back, on a different diagram to the morning crew.

Curious that Chester-based crew are not involved, despite the trains reversing there and often being where a substitute unit is provided during disruption.

Yes neither Chester drivers nor TMs sign the Mk4s however all sign 197s though, so when a sub does happen spares can be used from all over of course.

Should be 67020+HD06 Going back out for W65.

The loco off that set will then run tomorrow and when it gets back to Crewe will swap for 67017, which is being replaced tonight by 67016 on HD05.
017 is due an exam so the loco swaps keeps the rakes in service.

67010 has made it's way to Crewe ATC and is planned to go onto HD07 tomorrow night.

Once this round of loco swaps have happened it should look like:
HD01 split and no loco.
HD02+67022 (B exam)
HD03+67015 in service
HD04+67029 in service
HD05+67016 in service
HD06+67017 in service
HD07+67010 in service (014 will still be on this rake tomorrow then swaps when gets to Crewe)

HD01 now has new wheelsets fitted to the TO, the DVT is now having attention and the rest of the rake has visited the lathe.
